Sparta

Sparta was a daughter of Eurotas and the nymph Cleta. Sparta married Lacedeamon. The country where they lived was called Lacedaemon after him, and its capital was called Sparta after her.

The couple was very happy. But then Lacedeamon received a message that he had to go to war. Sparta waited a long harsh winter for her husband's return. Her only consolation was a crow that was raised by them as their child.
