Pelarge

Pelarge, daughter of Potnieus, instituted the orgies of the Boeotian Cabeirian mysteries. In accordance with the oracle of Dodona, various honours were established for Pelarge, one being the sacrifice of a pregnant victim.

The stork was seen as the bringer of prosperity and happiness; thus he became the symbol of new human life, i.e. children were told that storks brought  babies. Storks were very discontented with Pelarge's rituals. They retaliated by intimidating her to such an extent…
