Dryope 2

Dryope was a tree nymph. She was kidnapped by Hermes, son of Zeus and god of merchants and thieves. He took her to the cave where he kept his booty. (See Dryope 1.)

As soon as he had overpowered a nymph he cut off a lock of her hair so if she escaped he could easily trace her hiding place. After a year Dryope managed to flee but through the lock of hair, Hermes quickly found her. He told her to pay her respect and danced out of joy. Then he put her out on the street.
