Cassandra
Cassandra was the daughter of Priam, king of Troy. She was loved by the god Apollo, who promised her the power of prophecy if she would comply with his desires. Cassandra accepted the proposal, received the gift, and then refused the god her favours.
Apollo was furious, but gods can’t recall their gifts. He revenged himself by ordaining that none of her prophecies should ever be believed.
Cassandra predicted the fall of Troy, but her warning was ignored. During the sack of Troy, she searched for refuge at the altar of Athena, but when Apollo abandoned her nobody believed her…
