Antiope &  Hippolyta

Antiope and Hippolyta were sisters. They were queens of the Amazons. The Amazons were a tribe of female horse-riding warriors who roamed around the Black Sea coast. They lived in an exclusively female society. To reproduce they mated with men of overpowered tribes. Male babies were sold or killed. According to scholars, the Amazons burned off the right breast of their daughters to facilitate the use of bow and arrow, in which case left-handed girls were of course severely handicapped…
